Toure Boyd still waiting to clear hurdle
The wait for admission to South Carolina for defensive back signee Toure Boyd could end Wednesday.
Boyd, from Chaffey College in California, said he will immediately hop a plane and get to Columbia as soon as he has official word that he’s in.
Boyd on Tuesday overnighted his official transcript to USC admissions. If all goes as planned, he’ll get a call Wednesday, or Thursday at the latest, with the news he’s been accepted.
“I had a plane ticket ready to go for yesterday and then we found out my official (transcript) that I first sent in didn’t have the degree on it, so I had to make sure Chaffey posted my degree,” Boyd explained. “I had to go through this process of getting my degree posted. That’s why it's been taking a minute. They posted my degree (Tuesday). So I got my official transcripts and my degree and I sent it through UPS Next Day Air, so it’s going to be there by (Wednesday). And then they’re going to try to get it into admissions and whenever admissions processes that I’m going to be in.”
Boyd said he’s been told by his contact at USC that his grades look good enough for admission and, with his associates degree, he has enough hours to meet the transfer requirement.
Note: USC offered 2017 OL Adrian Ealy (6-5 260) of Baton Rouge on Tuesday night. He is the teammate of Gamecock commitment WR Tre Jackson. Some of Ealy’s other offers include LSU, Florida State, Mississippi State, Florida and Tennessee.
