Gamecocks offer productive JUCO QB who led team to national championship
South Carolina on Friday night offered quarterback Malachi Marshall of Iowa Western Community College, located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, just across the Nebraska River from Omaha.
He’s a product of South Pointe High School in Rock Hill and just completed his second season with the junior college.
Marshall (6-2, 170) had a sensational season in leading the Reivers to a fourth national championship. He was named the Junior College National Offensive Player of the Year after passing for 2,750 yards and 33 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He completed 63% of his pass attempts.
Marshall, who visited USC on Friday, has also been offered by Kent State, Marshall, Eastern Kentucky and Northern State University in South Dakota. The Gamecocks’ quarterback room consists of returning three-year starter LaNorris Sellers, sophomore Jimmy Francis, redshirt freshman Cutter Woods, and true freshman Landon Duckworth.
