USC commitments take visits to other schools
Three South Carolina Class of 2016 commitments are known to have visited other schools over the weekend.
Wide receiver Bryan Edwards of Conway and defensive back J.J. Givens of Mechanicsville, Va., both visited Clemson for the Tigers’ win over Florida State. (Former Gamecocks linebacker commitment P.J. Blue of Montgomery, Ala., also visited Clemson.)
Defensive end commitment Jordan Smith of Lithonia, Ga., visited Tennessee as the Volunteers defeated the Gamecocks.
Even before Steve Spurrier’s resignation, Givens was planning to take other visits. He and USC offensive line commitment Will Putnam of Harrisburg, N.C., visited N.C. State a week ago.
Edwards remains committed to USC but has said he will continue to weigh his options.
More notes:
▪ USC wide receiver target Dre Massey of Mauldin and Holmes Community College in Mississippi made an unofficial visit to Alabama Saturday
“Bama was good,” Massey said. “Saw a good atmosphere and a great game, two good teams going at it. Coaches are cool. I met with Coach Saban again and others. There’s nothing too serious just medium interest.”
Massey was scheduled for an official visit to USC this coming weekend but that’s been changed to Dec. 4. He is still on for officials to Oklahoma Nov. 21 and Florida Nov. 28. He has taken an official visit to Cincinnati.
▪ USC linebacker target T.J. Brunson of Richland Northeast made an unofficial visit to Louisville Saturday. He remains committed to the Cardinals.
“The atmosphere was fun and the fans were into the game. It got loud on third downs and touchdowns. The overall experience was pleasing,” he said.
Brunson will take an unofficial visit to USC this Saturday for the Florida game.
