South Carolina coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson went after defensive end Joshua Uche (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) of Miami while they were at Auburn and now they are pursuing him for USC.

The Gamecocks recently offered Uche and now have to convince him to take an official visit.

"I have to talk to my family about a possible visit," Uche said. "They (USC) are well respected and have one of the top fan bases in the country."

Uche said he's talking with Robinson almost every day and is also hearing from Muschamp and feels the Gamecocks want him pretty badly. He said the coaches have told him they will be down to see him after the dead period.

"A visit (to USC) is possible," he said. "I just have to get the approval from my parents."

Uche has scheduled official visits to Miami on Jan. 16, North Carolina on Jan. 23 and Florida on January 30 but added that any of those visits "can change." He does not claim a favorite.

Uche is being recruited as a linebacker and rush end. He said right now he's focusing on gaining weight and getting ready for college. This season he had 40 tackles and 14 sacks.
