Athlete Evan Hinson of Deltona, Fla., will get a look at the USC of the East and West over the next two weekends.

Hinson (6-5, 210) is visiting South Carolina this weekend and is scheduled to see Southern Cal next weekend. Hinson said the Gamecocks are recruiting him as a tight end.

The Gamecocks just recently offered him, and he wants to use this weekend to get to know the coaches and the program better.

“I’m just expecting to find a relationship with the coaches because they just offered me,” Hinson said before arriving in Columbia. “I don’t really know much about South Carolina. I’m not from the Carolinas so I can’t tell you a lot. I’m from Florida. They are an SEC school, I know that, and they are competitive in the conference, and that’s like the strongest football conference in college football.”

Hinson also is a good basketball player, but his focus is on football for college.

Hinson said he’s still looking at a possible visit for the last weekend of the month and is looking at Tennessee, Florida and UCF for that trip.
