The South Carolina offensive coaching staff is scouting around for another quarterback for the 2016 class.
Quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper met again this week with Tylin Oden of Columbia, Tenn., and Steven Duncan of Ashley Ridge. He has not yet offered either.
On Friday, USC head coach Will Muschamp went by Chapin High to check on prospects, including Class of 2017 tight end commit Will Register.
While there, Eagles coach Justin Gentry filled him in on his quarterback Logan Bailey, a finalist for Mr. Football last season and a participant in the Touchstone Energy North-South Game.
“There was a discussion (between the coaches) about a preferred walk-on but no actual offer was made,” said Bailey’s father, John, who also is an assistant on the Chapin staff. “He said he would be back in touch.”
The Citadel offered Bailey on Thursday and he will take an official visit there next weekend. This weekend he will visit Newberry, and he might take a midweek visit to Presbyterian before signing day.
Limestone and Tusculum also have offered and he as visited Limestone.
