Instate DB Tank Robinson ready to experience ‘new energy’ at USC

Lake Marion defensive back Davondre “Tank” Robinson of Lake Marion has been to junior days at Clemson and Virginia Tech, and Saturday he’ll attend South Carolina’s junior day.

Travaris Robinson is recruiting Robinson (6-1, 198) for USC, and he’s looking to learn more about what Will Muschamp and the new staff have planned for him and the program.

“I’ve been talking to T-Rob and I’m going there this weekend and I’ll find out more,” Robinson said. “They want me to get up there and talk to me in depth. They like me at safety. They said they loved my tape. I had some interest in USC before the change. I’ve been hearing from some recruits that the change is good and there’s new energy there. I’m going to see for myself on Saturday.”

Robinson is being recruited for Clemson by Marion Hobby and learned more about what the Tigers think of him when he was at their junior day Jan. 30.

“They liked that I’m really physical and can cover,” Robinson said. “I can come down and play man or just stay free. Coach Swinney is a great coach, a high energy guy. I like his passion for the game.”

Robinson also visited Clemson for the Notre Dame and Florida State games last season.

He does not have have favorites at this juncture. He was going to release a top 10 on his birthday, which is Valentine’s Day, but has decided to wait on that for awhile. His other offers include Georgia, Louisville, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Penn State, N.C. State, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Duke.

Robinson said he’ll decide on early graduation after taking the ACT in April.
