JUCO defender visits Gamecocks ahead of schedule

Defensive end Josiah Coatney of Holmes Community College in Mississippi was not scheduled to visit South Carolina until next weekend, but he drove in Friday for an unofficial visit with the Gamecocks.

“It was real nice,” Coatney said. “I liked the facilities and coaches and the campus.”

Coatney (6-5, 285) said he will be back next weekend for his official visit with the Gamecocks. Coatney also plans to visit Ole Miss on April 1 and Florida April.

He is a 2016 prospect and has pushed back his decision timetable from April 26 to the first week in May.
