Gamecocks make top group for Georgia RB recruit Jalen Holston
Running back Jalen Holston of Stockbridge, Georgia., camped at South Carolina in June and July and feels he did well both times in front of Will Muschamp and running backs coach Bobby Bentley.
He has the Gamecocks in his top group and has gotten positive feedback from Bentley.
"He tells me he wants me to be a guy and he wants me to come visit more often and try to come and commit and be a part of the family," Holston said. "They're telling me they are trying to get at least two backs and they want me to be that guy. They just want me to know they feel the same about me and I'm going to be their number one guy."
Holston also visited North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Tennessee this summer and those three are in the mix with the Gamecocks. He's planning to visit West Virginia and would also like to get to Georgia.
He'd like to make his decision this month or in September. He calls Virginia Tech his current favorite.
Robinson still looking
One of the state's most heralded prospects in the 2017 class is Lake Marion DB Tank Robinson. His offer list is lengthy and includes USC and Clemson, several other SEC and ACC programs, a pair from the Big Ten and Notre Dame.
Clemson and USC have been strong on Robinson going back to last year and both remain in his ear.
"Clemson say they really need a safety in the 2017 class," Robinson said. "And South Carolina's just the same message. They really want me to stay in state and help lead the 2017 group."
Robinson said there's no favorite for him between the Tigers and Gamecocks and no favorite overall. He said he will take official visits in the fall but hasn't decided where.
