Records and milestones from No. 1 South Carolina’s special run
The season is over for South Carolina women’s basketball. Although it ended without the Gamecocks hoisting the national championship trophy in New Orleans at the Final Four, it was still a special year for coach Dawn Staley’s squad.
Without a loss since November, USC made history with a perfect 19-0 sweep through the SEC regular season and tournament. And it did so with remarkable stability, keeping the same starting lineup for the entire season, just the second time that’s happened in program history.
In particular, senior Tyasha Harris has been named a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, given to the nation’s top point guard, while freshman Aliyah Boston was named a finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award, given to the nation’s top center. Senior forward Mikiah Herbert Harrigan also led the team in scoring and posted the best season of her career.
