Talaysia Cooper’s week continues to get better.

Two days after being selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game, the South Carolina signee and East Clarendon High School guard set a personal milestone on Friday by going over 3,000 points in her career. The accomplishment came when she scored after an offensive rebound in the third quarter of the game against C.E. Murray.

Cooper had a triple-double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. She now has 3,003 points for her career.

Cooper is just the sixth girls basketball player in S.C. High School League history and first since Kionna Jeter (2016) to cover over the mark. Former York standout Ivory Latta holds the state’s all-time scoring record with 4,319 points.

After the game, Cooper had her No. 10 jersey retired. South Carolina women’s coach Dawn Staley was among the attendees Friday night.

Cooper has been a member of the East Clarendon team since the seventh grade and helped the Wolverines to the 2018 Class A championship. EC is ranked No. 2 in the latest Class A poll released this week. She scored her 2,000th point in January of 2000.

The 6-foot point guard is ranked No. 4 at her position and the No. 18 overall prospect in the Class of 2022, according to ESPNW. She entered Friday’s game, averaging 27.1 points, 14.3 rebounds, 9 assists, 4.8 steals and 3.7 blocks per game this season.
