South Carolina basketball freshman Bree Hall ‘okay,’ was at mall during shooting
South Carolina women’s basketball freshman Bree Hall is OK after she was at Columbiana Centre mall in Columbia, S.C., during Saturday’s shooting.
Hall was not injured but was “a little shook up,” according to a tweet posted Saturday night by her mother, LaShauna Hall.
Fourteen people were injured in Saturday’s shooting, and none have died. Nine of the injured were hit by gunfire and five others were hurt as people rushed to exit, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Bree Hall didn’t attend Saturday’s USC spring football game, where Gamecock women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley and members of the national champion team were honored during the second quarter.
“(Bree) was looking forward to seeing everyone today. Unfortunately, she was at the Columbia Mall today She is okay but a little shook up. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers,” LaShauna Hall wrote.
Bree Hall tweeted Sunday confirming she was OK and thanked fans for their well wishes.
“Thank you for all prayers and messages from yesterday’s shooting. Thankfully, I’m okay but I appreciate it a lot !” she wrote.
Jewayne M. Price, 22, has been charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, police said in a news release. Police said they are also trying to identify at least two more suspects who were seen with guns at the mall.
Price’s bond was set at $25,000 Sunday, according to Richland County court records. He is scheduled to appear in court again on the unlawful carrying of a pistol charge on June 9.
Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said the first 911 call regarding the shooting came in at 2:03 p.m. Saturday, and hundreds of law enforcement officers from multiple agencies reported to the mall after the shooting..
