MiLaysia Fulwiley added another honor to her accomplished career — McDonald’s All-American.

The Keenan High standout and South Carolina signee was one of the 24 girls picked for the nation’s top all-star game. The announcement was made during Tuesday’s edition of the “NBA Today” on ESPN. The game will be held in Houston on March 28 and televised on one of ESPN’s family of networks.

Fulwiley becomes the ninth player from South Carolina picked for the girls’ game, which began in 2002. She joins Cardinal Newman’s Ashlyn Watkins and East Clarendon’s Talaysia Cooper (2022), Heathwood Hall’s A’ja Wilson (2014), Dutch Fork’s Alaina Coates (2013), Spring Valley’s Xylina McDaniel (2012), Lower Richland’s Morgan Stroman (2009), York Comprehensive’s Ivory Latta (2003) and Lee Central’s LaTangela Atkinson (2002). Watkins won the slam dunk contest before last year’s game.

Fulwiley is ranked as the 13th player in the Class of 2023 by ESPN HoopGurlz’s rankings.

She was one of two Gamecock signees picked for the game. Tessa Johnson of Saint Michael Albertville High in Minnesota will play on the West squad. She is the 25th-ranked player in the Class of 2023 by ESPN HoopGurlz’s rankings and committed to South Carolina in October.

Fulwiley and Johnson’s selections make it 22 future Gamecocks to play in the game.

The 5-foot-7 Fulwiley was called up to Keenan varsity as a seventh-grader during the playoffs and has took the program into unprecedented heights. The Raiders have played for a state championship in each of the past five seasons, winning four of them — including three straight.

Keenan is the No. 1 Class 2A team in the latest S.C. Basketball Coaches Association rankings.

Fulwiley is averaging 26.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 5.8 steals and 2.7 blocks per game this year. She is the school’s all-time leading scorer and closing in on 3,000 career points.

Fulwiley entered Tuesday’s game against Columbia with 2,855 points and had a triple-double of 11 points, 13 assists and 10 steals in the 80-24 over Columbia.
