USC Women's Basketball

Here’s who Dawn Staley, Lamont Paris landed on basketball signing day

The fall signing period has arrived, with women’s and men’s basketball players for the 2024 recruiting class putting pen to paper on their national letters of intent. Here’s a look at the newest basketball Gamecocks.

Women’s signees

Maddy McDaniel - Upper Marlboro, Md.

Point guard Maddy McDaniel committed to South Carolina in August as a five-star recruit. She was the No. 11 overall recruit and No. 3 point guard in the nation according to ESPN.

“She has court vision and the ability shoot and get to the rim, but what sets her apart is that she makes good decisions in the moment and has team success as her top priority,” Dawn Staley said in a press release. “Madisen has been well coached and played at an elite level, so I know that she fits our culture and that the FAMS will love to watch her play.”

McDaniel played in the Nike EYBL circuit for three seasons, and was invited to the Next Elite 24 and USA Basketball minicamp. She’s the first signee of the 2024 recruiting class.

Adhel Tac - Grand Prairie, Tx.

Post player Adhel Tac committed to USC two weeks ago over offers from North Carolina, Louisville and Georgia. She’s the No. 33 overall recruit for 2024, according to ESPN.

Tac averaged 14.1 points per game as a sophomore at South Grand Prairie High, and was a state-runner up that same year. She missed her junior season with an undisclosed injury, when she was the No. 12 recruit in the country.

“Adhel’s interior presence and high motor allow her to impact the game in some many ways,” Staley said in a statement. “She is more than a gifted basketball player, though; she is an exceptional person who we look forward to having in Columbia. I know the FAMS will fall in love with her, too.”

Men’s signees

Trent Noah - Baxter, Ky.

Shooting guard Trent Noah announced his commitment to USC in October, after receiving eight NCAA DI offers, including Seton Hall, UCF, Western Kentucky and Richmond. Noah is a top 150 recruit in the 2024 class, and the No. 2 shooting guard in Kentucky.

Noah is a three-star recruit, according to On3 Sports and 247Sports, standing at 6-foot-6. He had a 43.7% 3-point shooting rate during his summer at the Adidas Circuit.

“Trent is a ferocious competitor that has a passion and commitment to the game that is hard to find,” USC coach Lamont Paris said in a news release. “On the court, he is a supremely confident and a skilled shooter that has a great feel for the game.”

Okku Federiko - Helsinki, Finland

Power forward Okku Federiko committed to South Carolina back in April, when current Gamecock Morris Ugusuk announced his commitment to USC. Federiko had four DI offers, the others being Pitt, Syracuse and Duquesne.

The 6-foot-8, 190 pound recruit is a three-star recruit, according to On3 and Rivals. He played alongside Ugusuk at Omni Basketball Academy last season. Per USC, he’s the top collegiate prospect in Finland.

“Okku’s appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity in front of him is incredible for a young guy,” Paris said in a statement. “On the court, his offensive versatility and athletic fluidity make him an ideal fit for me as a coach.”
