South Carolina’s MiLaysia Fulwiley makes history in deal with Stephen Curry brand
South Carolina women’s basketball freshman MiLaysia Fulwiley is signing a multi-year NIL deal with NBA star Stephen Curry’s signature line Curry Brand.
Fulwiley is the first college athlete to partner directly with the brand, Under Armour announced. UConn’s Azzi Fudd became the first college player to sign an NIL deal with an NBA player in December of 2021 when she signed with Curry’s SC30 Inc.
The SEC Tournament’s most valuable player — and first freshman to win the honor since Candace Parker at Tennessee — is entering a four-year deal with Curry Brand, her mom Phelliccia Mixon told The State.
As part of the deal, Fulwiley will wear Curry Brand shoes on the court for the remainder of her college career at USC, according to a press release. Off the court, she will serve as a brand ambassador. Fulwiley will also work with the brand on player exclusives.
Before starting her college career with South Carolina, Fulwiley played for Curry’s AAU team Team Curry. She also received an invite to his Curry Camp for the country’s top boys and girls basketball players in San Francisco in 2022.
Fulwiley is the Gamecocks’ second-leading scorer, averaging 11.8 points per game while coming off the bench (behind starting center Kamilla Cardoso’s 14 points per game). The freshman is also second on the team in steals with 56 (behind point guard Raven Johnson’s 61).
