Next week’s anticipated South Carolina and LSU women’s basketball matchup will be getting some extra attention.

ESPN’s “College GameDay” TV show will head to Columbia for the Gamecocks’ matchup with the Tigers on Jan. 23.

The one-hour program will air at 7 p.m., preceding the conference rivalry between No. 5 LSU and No. 2 South Carolina.

This is the second-straight year the show will come to Columbia for a Gamecocks women’s game. It was there last season when USC faced Georgia. The network also broadcast its pre-game show before last year’s USC at LSU game.

This will be the third time the Gamecocks have hosted the basketball version of “GameDay” — the most of any school, and the program’s fifth appearance on the show.

LSU and USC have become one of the best rivalries in college basketball and features two of the sports top coaches and personalities in Gamecocks’ Dawn Staley and the Tigers’ Kim Mulkey. The Tigers won the 2023 national championship, while the Gamecocks won last season.

“College GameDay” will feature Elle Duncan as host. She will be joined by analysts Andraya Carter and Chiney Ogwumike.

Other stops for the show this season will be Feb. 16, Feb. 23, March 2 and conference championship week of March 9.
