South Carolina WBB signee named McDonald’s All-American

South Carolina women’s basketball signee Ayla McDowell has been selected to play in the 2025 McDonald’s All-American game roster.

McDowell is one of the 24 players to make the cut for the game, the rosters of which were announced Monday.

The game will be played on April 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Barclays Center in New York.

McDowell is the No. 22 recruit in the Class of 2025 according to espnW’s HoopGurlz Recruiting Ratings. The Texas native is the first signee of Dawn Staley’s 2025 class and is the 21st incoming USC freshman to receive the honor.

“Ayla is an elite wing who can score at all three levels and is a Swiss army knife on defense with the ability to guard every position,” Dawn Staley said in a release after McDowell’s signing. “She is blessed with great size and athleticism that allow her to impact the game on both ends of the floor. A winner at every level, she moves the needle for her teams. As selfless as she is on the floor, she is even more of a giver off it, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Ayla and her family to Columbia.”

This season, McDowell is averaging 24.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 3.1 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. For her career, she has scored 2,521 points.
