After canceling a previous appearance, “College GameDay” is making its South Carolina women’s basketball debut for the 2024-25 season.

The basketball version of ESPN’s classic pregame program will broadcast live from Columbia ahead of the Gamecocks’ home game against UConn on Sunday, Feb. 16, USC announced Tuesday afternoon on X (formerly Twitter).

“GameDay” was supposed to come to Colonial Life Arena arena ahead of USC’s home game against LSU last month, but plans were scrapped after winter weather across the Southeast prompted the SEC to push the USC-LSU game back one day.

South Carolina and UConn are once again two of the sport’s blue bloods. Coach Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks are currently 21-1 (9-0 SEC) and ranked No. 2 in the AP Top 25. UConn, led by star guard Paige Bueckers, is 21-2 and ranked No. 5.

The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tipoff on ABC.

Per an ESPN news release, the first hour of the Feb. 16 “GameDay” broadcast will air on ESPN starting at 11 a.m. and the second hour will air on ABC starting at noon.

ESPN’s Feb. 16 broadcast from CLA will mark the third time the Gamecocks women’s basketball program has hosted “GameDay” (the most of any school) and their fifth overall appearance. The women’s basketball version of “GameDay” features Elle Duncan as host and Andraya Carter and Chiney Ogwumike as analysts.

ESPN said the show will make three more WBB-specific stops later this year.

South Carolina is 5-9 all-time against UConn but has won five of the last six meetings and four straight (all since the 2019-20 season) in a long-running non-conference rivalry. That includes a win in the 2022 national championship game, a road win in Hartford in 2023 and a home win in Columbia in 2024.
