Gamecock great A’ja Wilson named one of Time’s Women of the Year

A’ja Wilson’s list of awards and accolades she’s garnered over the years is constantly growing.

She’s a three-time WNBA MVP, two-time WNBA champion, six-time WNBA All-Star, two-time Olympic gold medalist, has her retired jersey hanging in the rafters of Colonial Life Arena, is a Nike signature athlete and a New York Times Best Selling author.

On Thursday, she added another impressive honor to her resume by being named one of Time magazine’s Women of the Year.

Wilson is one of 13 women to be honored this year who “are all, in their own way, working toward creating a better, more equitable world,” according to Time.

Wilson and USA Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles were paired for a conversation with Time coming off a year where women’s sports received “unprecedented attention and surging attention.” The interview covered Wilson and Chiles’ thoughts on the growth of women’s sports, how they handle the spotlight and more.
