First look at South Carolina vs. Texas, NCAA Final Four schedule and betting odds
It’s only fitting that the fourth matchup between South Carolina and Texas women’s basketball this season will come in the Final Four.
Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks lead the season series 2-1 after securing wins in Columbia and in Greenville during the SEC Tournament championship game.
This time around, though, there’s much more at stake: a spot in the national championship game.

About the Gamecocks
South Carolina advanced to a fifth-straight Final Four this past weekend after close NCAA Tournament games with Maryland and Duke.
The Gamecocks came from behind to beat both the No. 4 seeded Terrapins 71-67 in the Sweet 16 and the No. 2 Blue Devils 54-50 in the Elite Eight.
Chloe Kitts was named the Birmingham 2 Regional’s Most Outstanding Player. The junior forward averaged 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the wins over Duke and Maryland. Kitts was joined by Sania Feagin and MiLaysia Fulwiley on the Regional All-Tournament Team.
This is South Carolina’s seventh trip to the Final Four in program history.
About Texas
Texas advanced to the Final Four after strong showings against Tennessee and TCU in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight.
This is the Longhorns’ third Final Four appearance. The last time was over 20 years ago in 2003 when Texas lost 71-69 to eventual champion UConn in the national semifinal.
Madison Booker and Rori Harmon led Texas to victory over TCU on Monday. Booker, the SEC Player of the Year, had 18 points against the Horned Frogs, while Harmon scored 13.
Where things stand in March Madness
UConn superstar Paige Bueckers has been on a hot streak in the NCAA Tournament. She’s averaging 29 points per game, including a 34-point performance in the second round, 40 points in the Sweet 16 and a 31-point game in the Elite Eight.
Connecticut is making its 24th appearance in the Final Four and is currently an 7.5-point favorite over UCLA, according to ESPN-Bet. The Huskies are also the favorite to win the national championship, with the Gamecocks at the second-best odds.
This is UCLA’s first trip to the Final Four. The Bruins had only made the Elite Eight twice before this season.
What’s on the line: A 12th national championship for UConn (first since 2016), a fourth national championship for South Carolina (won last year), a second national title for UCLA (first since AIAW championship in 1978) and a second national title for Texas (first since 1986).
South Carolina could be the first team to win back-to-back national championships since UConn won four straight from 2013 to 2016.
Texas, UConn and UCLA are the only teams to have beaten South Carolina since March 31, 2023.
- This is the first time in all of South Carolina’s Final Four appearances that the Gamecocks have logged a matchup during the season with the three other Final Four teams.
