How to watch Gamecock WBB rookies make their WNBA preseason debut
The WNBA preseason kicks off Friday night with a double-header after nearly a week of training camp.
South Carolina has three rookies on WNBA training camp rosters (as of Friday) after they were all selected in the second round of the 2025 WNBA Draft. Te-Hina Paopao is with the Atlanta Dream, Bree Hall is with the Indiana Fever and Sania Feagin is with the Los Angeles Sparks.
South Carolina will be represented during Friday’s two WNBA games in matchups between the Dallas Wings and the Las Vegas Aces (7 p.m.), and the Chicago Sky and the Brazilian National Team (9 p.m.). Gamecock legends A’ja Wilson and Tiffany Mitchell will lead the Aces, while former Gamecock Kamilla Cardoso will star for the Sky.
Hall will be the first Gamecock WNBA rookie to see action in the preseason. Here’s how to watch the USC rookie contingent’s first preseason action:
Bree Hall and the Fever
Hall will make her WNBA preseason debut on Saturday.
The Indiana Fever will play the Washington Mystics in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on NBA TV and WNBA League Pass.
Hall is teaming up with former Gamecock star Aliyah Boston for her pro career. The two played with each other for two seasons (2021-23) at South Carolina and won a national championship in 2022. Boston was selected by the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft in 2023 and won the league’s Rookie of the Year Award.
“She’s been very, very helpful,” Hall said of Boston during the Fever’s media day. “She’s been in my ear this entire time, this entire journey. Even before actually being drafted. Just helping me on the court and things, even in college. In practice she’s there, she’s communicating what she thinks I need to do, what she’s seeing on the court. … She’s been very helpful and I’m just so blessed she’s been able to be there for me, honestly.”
Hall’s second preseason game will come the following day on Sunday.
The Fever will play the Brazilian National Team at 4 p.m. in a game nationally televised on ESPN. The matchup will take place at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, home of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Fever star Caitlin Clark’s former college team.
Hall will be wearing the No. 23 jersey for the Fever, much like she did for the Gamecocks during her college career.
Sania Feagin and the Sparks
Feagin’s WNBA preseason debut will come Tuesday against the Golden State Valkyries.
The game will be played at the Chase Center in San Francisco at 10 p.m. and televised on WNBA League Pass.
“She’s going to be a great defender. I saw that playing against her,” fellow Sparks rookie Sarah Ashlee Barker said of Feagin last month. “She’s a great shot blocker. She brings so much to the team, just the little things that don’t even show up in the stat sheet. But she can also score too. If she’s going one on one, she can beat her defender. She does a great job of when people close in and double team her, she knows how to kick the ball out and get people open shots.
Feagin will face off with former Gamecock teammate Laeticia Amihere, who was signed by the Valkyries in February. The two played with each other for two seasons at South Carolina and won a national championship in 2022.
The Sparks and Valkyries will also play each other on Friday, May 16.
Feagin won’t wear the No. 20 jersey Gamecock fans are used to seeing her wear for the Sparks. Instead she’ll wear No. 1.
Te-Hina Paopao and the Dream
Paopao will be the last of South Carolina’s three rookies to make her WNBA preseason debut.
The Atlanta Dream will play the Washington Mystics on Wednesday in D.C. The game will be at 11:30 a.m. and televised on WNBA League Pass.
“She is more than a shooter,” Atlanta Dream head coach Karl Smesko said last month. “She competes on the defensive end, she can handle the ball. She’s somebody under pressure situations that is able to stay calm, she’s somebody that her teammates really look to her and when they see how she’s reacting they calm down. I’m just really excited to add Te-Hina.”
Paopao will wear No. 2 for the Dream. She will get the chance to face off with Hall when the Dream play on Saturday, May 10.
Bonus viewing of a future Gamecock
South Carolina fans will get to see signee and incoming freshman wing Ayla McDowell in some WNBA preseason games.
McDowell plays for the Brazilian national team that plays the Chicago Sky on May 3 and the Indiana Fever on May 4.
