The Las Vegas Aces are back atop the women’s basketball world.

The Aces defeated the Phoenix Mercury 97-86 Friday night to complete a sweep of the WNBA championship series. The win gives Las Vegas its third WNBA championship in the last four years.

As such, South Carolina women’s basketball legend A’ja Wilson is now a three-time WNBA champion.

Wilson earned WNBA Finals MVP honors for her efforts in the series. It’s the second time she’s won the award, the last time was in 2023.

She recorded 31 points and nine rebounds in the title-clinching game on Friday.

The championship win on Friday night caps off a prolific season for Wilson.

She won her fourth MVP this year (the most in WNBA history), her third Defensive Player of the Year award, was named to the All-WNBA First Team and All-WNBA Defense First Team. Wilson also was named Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press.
