Top 5 national recruit picks Dawn Staley, USC women’s basketball
Dawn Staley and the South Carolina women’s basketball team have gained a commitment from one of the best players in the class of 2026.
Jerzy Robinson, a 6-foot guard from Sierra Canyon High School in California, announced her commitment to the Gamecocks live on ESPN on Tuesday.
“I feel like it’s home,” Robinson said while appearing live on the set of “NBA Today.” “It’s peace. I’m really excited my next couple years, in my next chapter.”
Robinson is a five-star prospect and ranked No. 5 in ESPN’s Top 100 for the class of 2026. She is the team’s third 2026 signee, with all three ranking among ESPN’s top 20. Robinson was the final five-star in the class of 2026 to announce her commitment.
After her announcement, ESPN showed a video message from South Carolina women’s basketball legend A’ja Wilson for Robinson.
“Welcome to the Gamecock family,” Wilson said. “You made the best choice. There’s no place like Columbia...I’m so excited to watch you grow as a person and as a player and take the next step in your journey. Enjoy every moment, every minute, and before you know it, I’ll be seeing you in the big leagues.”
Robinson took an official visit with South Carolina in late October. She was spotted sitting behind South Carolina’s bench, alongside No. 17 ranked recruit Kaeli Wynn, during its exhibition against Anderson in October. She was also on the sideline and in the stands for South Carolina’s football game against Alabama.
South Carolina beat out several other blue blood programs around the country for Robinson’s talents. Those teams include LSU, UConn, UCLA, Southern Cal, Iowa, Notre Dame and more, per On3. Robinson also took an official visit to LSU basketball and Kim Mulkey in October, per her social media.
Brandon Clay, 247Sports’ director of women’s basketball scouting, describes Robinson as a “rhythm scorer” with a unique “physical size and skillset package.”
Robinson already has three gold medals in international play in the last three years. Those wins came with the U.S. women’s national team at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup, 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. She averaged 15.6 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 assists across those games, per FIBA.
