First betting line released for South Carolina WBB vs. UConn Final Four game
South Carolina women’s basketball is back in the Final Four. And for the first time in a while, the Gamecocks find themselves in the unique position: The underdog.
After beating TCU in the Elite Eight Monday, the Gamecocks advanced to a Final Four game vs. No. 1 overall seed UConn on Friday night in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Huskies have been the betting favorites to win the national championship game all season and enter Friday’s game vs. South Carolina at a perfect 38-0.
Initial point spreads for South Carolina-UConn were posted by sportsbooks late Monday after the Gamecocks’ 78-52 win over TCU. Here’s a roundup of the opening betting lines, all of which favor the Huskies over the Gamecocks:

It’s a rematch of last year’s national championship game in Tampa, which UConn won 82-59. It was the Huskies’ 12th national title under coach Geno Auriemma. This year’s team is on a 54-game winning streak overall and led by star guard Azzi Fudd and forward Sarah Strong (a former USC recruiting target).
Coach Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks are in their sixth straight Final Four after beating Oklahoma in the Sweet 16 and TCU in the Elite Eight in Sacramento, California.
USC was the fourth No. 1 seed in this year’s field. Friday’s other Final Four matchup between No. 1 UCLA (the No. 2 overall seed in the field) and No. 1 Texas (the No. 1 overall seed) is a bit closer than South Carolina-UConn.
The Longhorns (35-3) are currently favored by 1.5 points vs. the Bruins (35-1) in most sportsbooks. That game tips off at 9:30 p.m. Friday after USC-UConn.
