A former Gamecock is moving on to her fourth school in four years.

Former South Carolina women’s basketball player Sahnya Jah will play the 2026-27 season at Cincinnati, she announced Friday via social media.

It’ll be Jah’s fourth college stop in four seasons after playing her freshman year at South Carolina, her sophomore year at Arizona and her junior year at SMU.

A former four-star recruit from Virginia, Jah signed with coach Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks and flashed some immediate talent off the bench, averaging 3.1 points and two rebounds per game in 9.2 minutes per game.

But Staley suspended Jah indefinitely midway through the season and she didn’t appear in another game for USC, hitting the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Staley wished her well upon her departure.

Jah played the next season at Arizona under coach Adia Barnes, who said she got a strong endorsement from Staley to take on Jah as a transfer despite Jah’s struggles at USC (the forward was reportedly suspended for missing “several classes”).

Jah also reportedly faced an NCAA-related suspension while at Arizona.

After Barnes took the SMU job last offseason, Jah followed her from Arizona and had a strong year for the Mustangs. She averaged a career-high 9.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 21 minutes per game for SMU this year and started 12 games.

SMU struggled as a team during Barnes’ first year, though. The Mustangs finished 8-23 and 2-16 in the ACC, the second-worst mark among 18 league teams. On March 19, On3 reported that Jah planned to re-enter the transfer portal.

Cincinnati was 11-20 and 6-12 in the Big 12 last season. The Bearcats haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since 2002. UC is entering its fifth season under coach Katrina Merriweather, a former letter-winner at the school
