The South Carolina women’s basketball program was well-represented in the WNBA’s monthly awards for May, announced Wednesday.

Former Gamecock stars Allisha Gray and A’ja Wilson were named the WNBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively.

Gray led the Atlanta Dream to a 5-2 record in May. During that stretch, Gray averaged 20.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. She was second in the Eastern Conference in scoring and led the conference in plus-minus rating. Gray scored 20 or more points in four of Atlanta’s first seven games.

Gray has won Player of the Month four times during her career. Last season, she became the first guard in WNBA history to win the award three times in a season.

Wilson led the Las Vegas Aces to a 5-3 record in May. The four-time MVP averaged 24.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 blocks in May. Wilson also shot 52.1% from the field and led the league with a 60% clip from 3-point range.

Wilson tallied six consecutive games with 20 or more points last month. She also became the only player in WNBA history with multiple 45-point games after she scored 45 against the Connecticut Sun on May 15.

Wilson has been a Player of the Month 14 times in her career, a league record.

The two former Gamecocks played against each other on May 17. Wilson and the Aces came out on top with an 85-84 victory. Gray notched 25 points and nine rebounds in the game, Wilson had 20 points and six rebounds.
