Former Gamecock Sania Feagin lands another WNBA opportunity with new team
Former South Carolina women’s basketball player Sania Feagin has found a new home in the WNBA.
Feagin signed a developmental contract with the Portland Fire, the team announced on social media Wednesday. The move comes a few days after Feagin was waived by the Los Angeles Sparks on June 19.
Development contracts are new for the 2026 WNBA season thanks to the league’s latest collective bargaining agreement. The contracts are for players with no more than three years of WNBA service. Feagin can participate in all the Fire’s training sessions, practices and travel but can only be on the active roster for 12 games this season.
Feagin played in three games this season for the Sparks. She played a combined 10 minutes in that time and tallied one rebound and two assists. Feagin dealt with an injury early in the season and was eventually waived last week to make room on the roster for Kiana Williams, who the Sparks signed on June 19.
Feagin was drafted by the Sparks in the second round of the 2025 draft out of South Carolina. She played 16 games for LA last year and averaged 1.3 points in just under five minutes of action per contest.
Feagin joins a Portland Fire team that holds an 8-9 record thus far in the expansion franchise’s first year of competition.
