First day of practice, first commitment for the next recruiting class.

Araion Bradshaw, the No. 32 prospect in the country, committed to South Carolina on Monday. The news was first reported by the AAU Boston Showstoppers and confirmed to The State by a source close to the situation.

Bradshaw’s a 5-foot-6, five-star point guard, rated by some as the top player in New England. ESPNHoopGurlz labels her as an explosive and athletic scorer who creates her own scoring opportunities and is relentless on defense.

Bradshaw is the first commitment for Dawn Staley’s 2016 recruiting class. USC will have five scholarships to fill after this season when it’s losing Sarah Imovbioh, Khadijah Sessions, Asia Dozier, Tiffany Mitchell and Tina Roy.
