A loss to the country’s top team dropped South Carolina from the spot it’s held all season.

The Gamecocks fell one spot to No. 3 in the Associated Press Women’s Top 25 on Monday, following a loss to No. 1 Connecticut and a win over then-No. 16 Florida last week. Notre Dame took the No. 2 spot.

The Fighting Irish (24-1) also lost to the Huskies, by 10. USC lost by 12. USC has beaten 10 Top 25 teams this season to tie a school record.

The Gamecocks were at No. 24 Tennessee on Monday and host Georgia on Thursday. USC went into the Tennessee game needing one win for its third straight SEC regular-season championship. The Lady Vols moved up a spot from last week.
