RBC Heritage first round Thursday: TV schedule, stream, tee times, players to watch

The wait is over.

The RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing begins Thursday. The PGA Tour event was first canceled and then rescheduled from April because of the coronavirus.

Some of the best players in the world will tee it up at Harbour Town Golf Links for the first time — or for the first time in years — as the PGA Tour resumes. No spectators will be allowed on the golf course but there are ways to follow the leaderboard and watch the action unfold on Hilton Head.

The top six players in the Official World Golf Ranking are in the field of about 150 players vying for the $1.3 million top prize.

The Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus layout is lauded for its throwback style that requires precise shots and can’t be overpowered. Here’s how to follow the action during Round 1:

Notable players

Bryson DeChambeau: The 26-year-old turned heads when he emerged from quarantine with a bulked-up physique at Colonial Country Club last week and led the field in driving distance. Everyone took note of DeChambeau’s extra distance off the tee as he climbed the Charles Schwab Challenge leaderboard, finishing tied for third. It will be interesting to see how he attacks Harbour Town, which may favor a less bruising approach.

Jim Furyk: This is a course the 50-year-old believe fits his game and is a place he still feels competitive as tour courses get longer. He’s won twice at Harbour Town, most recently in 2015, and has earned $3.87 million here — most of any player.

Brooks Koepka: The No. 4 player in the world is making his first appearance at the RBC Heritage. He restarted the PGA Tour season with a T32 finish last week at Colonial. He tees off at 7:29 a.m. Thursday and is among the featured groups that will be streamed live.
