Hideki Matsuyama has made his choice.

The defending Masters winner had his selections for the annual Masters Club, better known as the “champion’s dinner,” released on Tuesday morning.

Matsuyama — who became the first Asian player to win the event in its 86-year history — included plenty of Japanese flair to his selections. They’re as follows:

  • Appetizers: assorted sushi, sashimi and nigiri; yakitori chicken skewers
  • Main courses: Miso glazed black cod with dashi broth; Miyazaki wagyu - A5 wagyu beef ribeye with mushrooms, vegetables and sansho daikon ponzu
  • Desert: Japanese strawberry shortcake — fluffy sponge cake with whipped cream and amaou strawberries

The Masters Club began at the 1952 tournament when defending champ Ben Hogan hosted a dinner for previous winners.

Hogan, at the time, proposed the formation of the “Masters Club” a group limited to former champions of the event. Honorary memberships were extended to Bobby Jones, Clifford Roberts, Bill Lane, Hord Hardin, Jack Stephens, Hootie Johnson, Billy Payne and Fred Ridley.

Each year, the defending Masters champ chooses the menu and serves as the host for the Tuesday night dinner.

Matsuyama won the 2021 Masters with a 10-under, 278, outlasting American Will Zalatoris by just a stroke in the Wake Forest product’s first ever appearance at Augusta National.
