Tiger Woods’ run at the 2023 Masters is over.

“Due to injury, Tiger Woods has officially withdrawn from the Masters after completing seven holes of his third round,” Augusta National announced early Sunday.

Woods, in his 25th appearance at the Masters, was 3-over par and just made the cut to play into the weekend. He was 9-over par when third-round play was suspended Saturday. He tied the all-time record for consecutive cuts made at the Masters (23), an honor he shares with Fred Couples and Gary Player.

“I am disappointed to have to WD this morning due to reaggravating my plantar fasciitis,” Woods said via Twitter. “Thank you to the fans and to @TheMasters who have shown me so much love and support. Good luck to the players today!”

Woods, 47, is a five-time green jacket winner — 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019. He has 15 career major wins and 82 PGA Tour victories, which is tied with Sam Snead for the most in golf history.

He’s publicly talked about his days in competitive golf being numbered. A 2021 car wreck led to a near-amputation of his right leg. He’s also battled a host of issues with his back, among other injuries, over the years.

“I’ve always loved this golf course, and I love playing this event,” Woods said walking off the 18th hole after completing his second round on Saturday morning. “Obviously I’ve missed a couple with some injuries, but I’ve always wanted to play here. I’ve loved it.”

Woods was noticeably limping up the fairway on the 17th hole on Saturday during the third round before play was suspended due to rain.

“Yeah,” he said Tuesday, “I don’t know how many more I have in me.”

The Masters’ third round resumes at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The final round of play will begin at 12:30 p.m.
