Key Masters anniversaries
75 years ago (1941)
Craig Wood went wire-to-wire to win his first major. Wood was on the wrong end of Gene Sarazen making an albatross on the 15th hole in 1935 and winning a playoff.
50 years ago (1966)
Jack Nicklaus finished at even-par 288 and in the first three-man playoff at the Masters with Gay Brewer and Tommy Jacobs. Nicklaus became the first Masters back-to-back winner.
30 years ago (1986)
At 46, Nicklaus became the oldest player to win the Masters with a final-round charge. Nicklaus shot 30 on the second nine for 65 to beat such players as Seve Ballesteros and Greg Norman.
20 years ago (1996)
Nick Faldo closed with 67 for a third Masters title that’s remembered more for Greg Norman's collapse. Norman closed with 78, blowing a six-shot lead in final round.
10 years ago (2006)
Phil Mickelson won his second Masters and his second straight major coming after the PGA Championship at Baltusrol the previous August. He won by two shots over Tim Clark.
