Former Chapin High star Jacqueline Twitty made her first appearance in the Sonic Columbia Women’s City Golf Championship one to remember, running away with the title Wednesday at the Members Club’s Woodcreek Course.

Twitty, a rising sophomore at Louisville and a member of the Cardinals’ women’s team, blistered the Woodcreek layout with a 3-under 69 for a two-round total of 3-under 141. She finished 15 strokes ahead of runner-up Catherine Shealy.

“Everything went well today, and my short game was really spot on,” Twitty said. “I really enjoyed the tournament and definitely will play again next year.”

She’ll have a busy summer, with a tournament next week followed by a match-play event and the qualifying for the U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Shealy posted a pair of 78s and a 156 total to finish second. Ann Gore, who started the day one stroke off the lead, struggled to an 84 and finished third.

Pat Rhodes claimed the title in the tournament’s City Division with a 173 total, and Nancy Dodge captured the Senior Division crown with 166.
