Volleyball season ends for Lugoff-Elgin, Blythewood
Blythewood and Lugoff-Elgin both saw their volleyball seasons come to an end in the Lower State finals on Tuesday.
In Class 5A, the Bengals were swept by Wando, which will now play for the state championship for the fourth consecutive year. Dorman won the Upper State crown.
Blythewood lost 25-11, 25-22, 25-23. In each of the final two sets, the Bengals held a late lead before the Warriors rallied to advance.
In Class 4A, the Demons fell 25-21, 25-9, 25-20 to Myrtle Beach, which will face Aiken for the state title on Saturday.
“My team are fighters,” Lugoff-Elgin coach Katie Hamm said. “That is what we try to put in them from the beginning of the season. Fight and it comes down to playing together as a family. Myrtle Beach is very good, I don’t know what to say other than that. (Davis) is very strong, and we did what we could but they came out on top.”
