Lexington’s Lauren Stephenson makes U.S. Women’s Open cut
Lauren Stephenson is staying around the weekend at the U.S. Women’s Open.
The Lexington grad fired her second straight even-par 72 to make a cut a major for the first time. Stephenson, who plays at Alabama, is tied for 31st and has the second lowest score of the five amateurs to make the cut.
Stephenson missed the cut last year at the U.S. Women’s Open.
On Friday, Stephenson began her round with nine straight pars before a bogey on No. 10. She followed that with back-to-back birdies and closed the round with a double bogey on No. 17 and birdie No. 18 at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
