Former Lexington High standout earns top-10 finish in LPGA debut
Lauren Stephenson’s LPGA career is off to a strong start.
The former Lexington High state champion and Alabama standout finished tied for eighth at the ISPS Handa Vic Open in Victoria Australia. She finished with a 4-under 285, shooting below 70 in two of her four rounds.
Stephenson earned $24,875 for her finish. It was Stephenson’s first tournament since turning professional after qualifying eighth at LPGA Q-School in November. She has full status on LPGA Tour this season.
Stephenson was a two-time, first-team all-SEC selection at Alabama and was the Golfweek Player of the Year in 2018. She was picked for the United States Curtis Cup Team and Palmer Cup team.
At Lexington High School, Stephenson was a two-time state champion and was believed to be the first person in state history to earn all-state honors in girls and boys all-state teams in her senior season.
