White Knoll softball rallies to keep streak alive plus rest of Friday’s high school spring sports action
Down to their final strike several times in the seventh inning, the White Knoll softball team had a finish to remember.
Lexi Winters’ 3-run homer with two outs in the top of the seventh capped off the Timberwolves’ comeback for a 8-7 win over Lexington on Friday. With the win, WK extends its region winning streak to 28 games and was its 16th win overall dating back to last season.
White Knoll trailed 7-3 going into the seventh but cut it to 7-5 and then benefited from a missed played pop fly from Lexington. One batter later Winters hit the game-winning homer.
Andrea Lyon went the distance for the win and became the school’s all-time wins leader with 82, breaking mark of Candince Evans. Lyon was 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Hannah Goodwin was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI.
Sarah Gordon was 3-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI to lead Lexington.
