SC high school basketball playoffs: Where things stand, what’s next, updated schedule

With the first few rounds in the books, here is what to look for in this week’s third round matchups in the SC High School League basketball playoffs:

Class 5A boys

Biggest surprise: Dutch Fork. The Silver Foxes, known for their football strength, are in the third round for the first time since 2014.

Big matchup to watch: Wade Hampton at Irmo. The Yellow Jackets go for their 25th win, the most since 2014-15, and try to give coach Tim Whipple another trip to the state semifinals

Key takeaway: Bryce McGowens. The state’s top junior prospect put on a show Saturday, going for 65 points, fourth most in state history.

Big matchup to watch: Ridge View at Greenville. It’s a big road test for the Blazers, who haven’t lost a true road game all season. All of their losses have come at a neutral site or at home.
