Midlands volleyball, tennis teams to play for state championships
Two Midlands volleyball teams and one girls tennis team will play for state championships this week.
On Tuesday, AC Flora girls tennis and North Central volleyball earned their spots in Saturday’s championships. The Falcons defeated Greenville, 4-2, to win the Class 4A Upper State championship. AC Flora will play defending state champion Lucy Beckham at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Cayce Tennis Center. It is the Falcons’ third title appearance since 2017. Flora won the state championship in 2018.
North Central defeated Buford, 3-0, to win the Class 2A Lower State volleyball championship. The Knights will face St. Joseph’s in the state championship at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Dreher High School. St. Joseph’s is making its 10th title appearance in the last 11 seasons. St. Joseph’s won nine state titles since 2010, four in Class A and five in Class 2A.
North Central and Flora join River Bluff volleyball as title participants. The Gators
defeated defending state champion Wando, 11-25, 25-23, 25-19, 30-28, on Monday night in the Class 5A Lower State championship. River Bluff will play Dorman on Thursday at Dreher High School for the state championship at 8 p.m.
