Ridge View’s Tyra Robinson and Mid-Carolina’s Sammy Carmona are this week’’s The State’s spring sports Athletes of the Week.

Congrats to all the nominees who are listed below.

Girls sports nominees

Grace Beacham, Hammond softball: In a pair of wins over Cardinal Newman, Beacham pitched a total of 10 innings and struck out 20 with no walks. She was 3-for-5 with a home run and seven RBIs.

Caylee Busbee, Swansea softball: Busbee allowed three hits with 11 strikeouts and a walk in a 6-0 win over Brookland-Cayce. She added an RBI and run scored as well.

Emily Christensen, Blythewood soccer: The senior striker recorded a hat trick as the Bengals defeated Rock Hill 10-0 on Thursday.

Riley Ford, Lexington softball: The Wildcats pitcher threw a pair of shutouts last week. She recorded 10 strikeouts with one walk and allowed two hits in a 1-0 win over Chapin. She followed that up with a one-hit, 13-strikeout performance in a 5-0 win over River Bluff.

Lauren Hardy, Blythewood softball: In a 5-0 win over Northwestern, Hardy allowed one hit with 14 strikeouts in five innings. Hardy followed that up by allowing one run on one hit in an 11-1 win over Rock Hill. She had 10 strikeouts with one walk. She was 2-of-4 with three runs scored.

Delaney Minor, A.C. Flora soccer: Minor recorded a hat trick accounting for all the goals in a 3-0 win over Dreher. All three goals came in the first half.

Marlena Perez, White Knoll softball: Perez threw a pair of shutouts last week against Mid-Carolina and Dutch Fork. She tallied 13 strikeouts with one walk and one hit against the Rebels. She added nine strikeouts, walked one and allowed two hits in the win over the Silver Foxes.

Tyra Robinson, Ridge View softball: The Blazers leadoff hitter was 7-for-10 with three RBIs and five runs scored as Ridge View went 1-1 last week.

Mayah Rumpel, Spring Valley soccer: Rumpel had two goals and an assist to lead the Vikings to a 7-0 win over Northwestern.

Boys sports nominees

Sammy Carmona, Mid-Carolina soccer: The junior tallied 12 goals in three matches last week. He scored all the goals including six in the second half during an 8-0 win over Chester on Monday. He added four goals in a 7-2 win over Chester on Friday.

Sheldon Coffman, Dreher baseball: The Blue Devils went 4-0 on the week with Coffman leading the way. The first baseman was 7-of-13 with six RBIs and six runs scored.

Tyler Floyd, Lexington baseball: The Wildcats leadoff hitter went 6-of-8 with two home runs, three RBIs and five runs scored in wins over Dorman and Charlotte Christian.

Lane Greenlee, Dutch Fork soccer: The senior forward scored four goals and added an assist in a 6-0 win over White Knoll last Monday.

Beau Hollins, River Bluff baseball: The South Carolina commit had a solid week on the mound and at the plate in a three-game sweep over Dutch Fork. He earned the win by allowing a run on two hits with 10 strikeouts in a 13-1 win on Monday. He went 2-for-3 with a home run and six RBIs. He finished the week by going 7-of-12 with two homers and 13 RBIs.

Austin Laughlin, Cardinal Newman baseball: Laughlin pitched the Cardinals to a 10-5 victory over Hammond. He pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, four runs, no earned runs, with 10 strikeouts and four walks. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate against the Skyhawks and was 1-for-3 with two RBIs in a 10-8 win over RNE.

Ian Myers, Brookland-Cayce track: The Bearcats sprinter faced a loaded field in the 2022 All American Classic at Spring Valley and won both the 100 and 200 meters. He ran the 100 in 10.49 and the 200 in 21.32.

Blake Palyok, Airport baseball: Palyok went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and a run scored in a 7-0 win over Fairfield Central on Saturday.

John Rollings, Blythewood baseball: In two wins over Spring Valley, Rollings was 4-for-6 with four RBIs and four runs scored.

Jake Sears, A.C. Flora baseball: Sears was 2-for-2 with two walks, a home run, double and four RBIs in a 14-8 win over Irmo on Friday.
