The AC Flora and Lexington baseball teams stayed on top of their regions with a pair of wins on Thursday night.

Flora, the top ranked team in Class 4A, stayed in first in Region 4-4A with a 14-4 win over Lugoff-Elgin in six innings. The Falcons are now 7-0 in the region and lead L-E and Dreher, who are both 6-2. AC Flora has a game with Irmo on Friday and two games with Dreher next week.

The Falcons win the region by winning two of their final three games.

Carew Bates hit a two-run homer in the third and South Carolina signee Zander Buchan was 2-4 with two RBI for the Falcons. AC Flora also benefited from the wildness of L-E pitchers, who had 15 wild pitches and walked 11 batters in the game.

Stephen West pitched 3 ⅔ innings to pick up the win for Flora.

At Lexington, the Wildcats hled off a late rally from Dutch Fork to win, 9-7. The Silver Foxes scored five in the top of the seventh and had the tying run on second before Jake Smith got a strikeout to end the game,

Lexington stays a game ahead of River Bluff in Region 5-5A with each team having four games left. The Wildcats also hold the tiebreaker over the Gators by winning two of three from them earlier this season.

Lexington finishes the series with Dutch Fork on Saturday and has a three-game series with Chapin next week.

Freshman Brandon Cromer was 2-for-4 with three RBI and Clemson signee Nathan Hall also drove in two runs.
