Three Midlands tennis teams in state semifinals, plus Monday’s playoff scoreboard
River Bluff, Dreher and Camden boys tennis teams moved one victory away from playing for a state championship.
River Bluff defeated Dutch Fork, 5-1, to advance to the Class 5A Lower State championship. The Gators travel to Wando on Wednesday with the winner advancing to Saturday’s championship at the Florence Tennis Center.
Dreher defeated Irmo, 4-2, to move to the Class 4A Upper State championship. The Blue Devils will host Greenwood on Wednesday.
Dreher is looking for its first championship appearance since back-to-back appearances in 1996-97 when it was in Class 3A.
Camden defeated Academic Magnet, 6-0, and earned a spot in the Class 3A Lower State championship. The Bulldogs host Oceanside Collegiate on Wednesday and are looking for first title appearance since 2010.
In other highlights from Monday:
▪ Region 5-5A teams go 4-0 in Class 5A boys soccer playoffs with Chapin, River Bluff, Lexington and Dutch Fork all winning.
▪ Eduardo Moisa Membreno had a hat trick as defending 3A champion Brookland-Cayce defeated Aynor, 10-0, in the first round.
