It’s time to vote for The State’s high school football Preseason Player of the Year from Midlands-area high schools. Voting ends Friday at noon. The winner will be announced on Lou Bezjak’s Twitter page.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Zion Agnew, Ridge View: Senior receiver had 65 catches for 1,030 yards and 12 touchdowns last year. Committed to play college football at East Carolina.

Nate Branch, Lower Richland: Senior receiver had 31 catches for 855 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

AJ Brand, QB, Irmo: Sophomore started at receiver last year but is moving back to quarterback. Had four total TDs and was MVP in Yellow Jackets’ win at Aun & McKay Classic jamboree.

Apollos Cook, Airport: Senior had 470 yards receiving and had 27 tackles last season at River Bluff. Committed to play at Duke.

Max Drag, Chapin: Senior defensive lineman had 58 tackles, five sacks and two forced fumbles last season. Committed to play at Appalachian State.

Alias Graham-Woodberry, Gilbert: Led Gilbert with 1,618 yards and 16 touchdowns last season.

Jarvis Green, Dutch Fork: Senior running back had 2,125 yards of total offense last season and 36 touchdowns.

Xzavier McLeod, Camden: Top-ranked area prospect for Class of 2023. Had 58 tackles, five sacks and team-high 21 quarterback pressures last season on the defensive line.

Taiden Mines, Lexington: Junior quarterback had 1,221 total yards and nine touchdowns last season.

Tanner Staton, Brookland-Cayce: Senior quarterback threw for 2,445 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. Committed to play at Elon.

Markel Townsend, A.C. Flora: Senior running back rushed for 1,444 yards and 21 total touchdowns last season.

Will Wilson, Richland Northeast: In seven games at QB as a freshman, Wilson threw for 987 yards, ran for 855 yards and scored 13 touchdowns.
