The State’s best: Meet the 2022 all-area high school girls golf team

A look at The State’s all-area girls golf team from Midlands-area high schools for the 2022 season.

Midlands Girls Golf Team

Mia Andrade, So., Chapin: Sophomore had a 76.5 scoring average, was Region 5-5A medalist and Class 5A all-state.

Merritt Barbrey, Fr., AC Flora: Freshman had a 78 scoring average, was medalist in six matches and was Class 4A all-state.

Payton Burch, Sr., Cardinal Newman: Senior had 37.7 scoring average (for nine holes), was SCISA 1-4A Player of Year and all-state.

Sarah Campbell Brown, Jr., AC Flora: Medalist in three matches this year, had 79 scoring average and was all-region.

Caitlyn Gaines, So., River Bluff: Sophomore was Region 4-5A and finished second in Class 5A Lower State tournament.

Caroline Hawkins, Fr., Blythewood: Freshman had a 72.8 scoring average, co-medalist at 5A Upper State and was individual state champion at Class 5A tournament.

Edie-Raine Hardee, Sr., Gilbert: Senior had a 80.4 scoring average, was Class 3A all-state and picked to play in North-South all-star matches.

Lilly Reed Black, So., Chapin: Had a 78.2 scoring average, was all-region and all-state in Class 5A.

Taryn Smoak, Fr., Lexington: Freshman had a scoring average of 81.2 and tied for 15th at Class 5A state tournament.

Ella Stalvey, Sr., Blythewood: Senior had a 72.2 scoring average and was all-state for the third time in her career.

Honorable Mention: Kinley Brazell, Hammond; Abby Brunson, Swansea; Brooke Burgess, So., Lexington; Liz Eckenroth, Fr., Camden; Emma Iskhakov, Sr., Ridge View; Benedicta Pollard, Swansea
