The State’s best: Meet the 2023 all-area high school boys golf team

A look at The State’s Midlands all-area boys golf team and players of the year for the 2023 season.

All-Area Boys Golf Team

Charles Cauthen. AC Flora: Sophomore had 71.3 stroke average, was medalist in four matches including Battle of the Dam. Cauthen was all-state after finishing tied for ninth at the Class 4A state championship.

Teddy Dunn, Gray Collegiate: Sophomore had a 72.8 stroke average this season, was all-region and all-state after finishing third in the Class 2A championship.

Ashton Eubanks, River Bluff: Senior had a 74.9 scoring average and was medalist in Region 4-5A tournament and Lexington County tournament. Eubanks was all-state after finishing tied for ninth in the Class 5A tournament. He was selected for the North-South golf matches and signed to play at Winthrop.

Coleman Ferguson, AC Flora: Junior had a 72.2 stroke average and was medalist in four tournaments including Region 4-4A championship.

Gage Gaskins, Lexington: Junior had a 38 scoring average for nine, was all-Region 4-5A and finished 18th in the Class 5A state tournament.

Adam Hunt, AC Flora: Senior had a 72.1 scoring average and was Class 4A Lower State co-medalist. Hunt signed to play at Illinois.

Harrison James, Chapin: James was runner-up in Lexington County championship, was all-state selection after a seventh-place finish in Class 5A state tournament.

Thomas Lamar, AC Flora: Junior had a 71.8 stroke average and was medalist in three matches. Lamar was Class 4A Lower State co-medalist and all-state after finishing tied for fourth in Class 4A championship.

Dylan Leicht, Lexington: Sophomore had a 39 scoring average for nine holes and was Class 5A Lower State champion.

Winn McKittrick, Camden: Senior had a 37 scoring average for nine holes and finished in the top 20 of the Class 3A state championship.

Grant Paolucci, Blythewood: Sophomore had a 74.6 scoring average, was medalist at Region 3-5A tournament and all-state after finishing ninth in the Class 5A state tournament.

Grant Skelley, River Bluff: Senior had a 78 scoring average and was all-state after finishing fifth in the Class 5A championship tournament. Skelley also was picked for the North-South All-Star matches.
