Blythewood High tabs prolific North Carolina coach to lead baseball program
Blythewood High School went outside of the state to find its next baseball coach.
Travis Poole, who won more than 400 games and a pair of state championships at Weddington High in North Carolina, will be the Bengals’ new coach, the school announced on Thursday.
Poole replaces Dolan Crolley, who served as interim coach after Banks Faulkner left a job at Newberry College.
Crolley, who was named Class 5A Coach of the Year, was interviewed for the job after leading Blythewood to the school’s third state championship appearance.
The Bengals advanced to the 5A championship series before losing to River Bluff.
Poole has a strong resume with 463 victories in his career and led Weddington to back-to-back North Carolina Class 3A championships in 2011-12, before retiring after the 2022 season.
