Airport junior voted The State’s Midlands high school volleyball Player of the Week

.The votes have been tabulated and Airport’s Riley Koellner is the winner in The State’s Midlands high school volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 15-16.

Thanks to everyone who voted for the poll. A new one will be out next week.

The nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Laila Brown, Dreher: In two matches last week, the senior had 20 digs and four aces.

Ceigan Carter, Keenan: In a single match last week against Eau Claire, the junior outside hitter finished with 20 kills, 20 digs and six aces.

Destiny Drakeford, Ridge View: The senior middle blocker finished with 22 kills and 10 blocks in two matches last week.

Christiana Greene, Cardinal Newman: In wins over Porter-Gaud and Ashley Hall, Greene had 23 kills, a .426 kill percentage, seven digs and three blocks. She went over 1,000 career kills during the week.

Mackenzie Head, Gilbert: In two matches last week, the senior combined for 21 kills, eight digs and 92.3% serving percentage with three aces and just two errors on 26 service attempts.

Riley Koellner, Airport: The junior libero finished the week with 29 digs, seven aces and three kills in two matches played.

Santana Reese, Airport: In two matches, the outside hitter recorded 16 kills, 12 digs, four blocks and three aces.

Kendall Vinson, Lexington: The senior outside hitter finished with 22 kills, 15 digs, one block, and one assist as the Wildcats started region play with wins over Chapin and River Bluff.
