Ridge View’s Drakeford voted The State’s high school girls basketball Player of Week

The votes are in, and Ridge View’s Destiny Drakeford wins the vote for The State’s Midlands High School Girls Basketball Player of the Week.

Thanks to all who voted. A new poll will be up on Monday afternoon.

This week’s nominees are listed below. Please note that these polls are not scientific and are meant to be just for fun.

Girls Player of Week nominees

Jayliah Daniel, White Knoll: Guard averaged 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals in three games last week.

Tamira Delaney, AC Flora: Sophomore averaged 11 points, six steals and four assists in two games last week.

Destiny Drakeford, Ridge View: Senior averaged 16 points in two games last week as the Blazers clinched the Region 5-4A championship.

Joyce Edwards, Camden: Senior and South Carolina signee scored 31 points, had eight rebounds, six assists, three steals and three blocks in Camden’s lone game last week.

Michaela Fairwell, Dutch Fork: Junior averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, 4 assists and two blocks in two games last week.

Lauren Jacobs, Heathwood Hall: Junior averaged 28.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and three steals in two games last week.

Makiah Thompson, Westwood: Senior went over the 1,000-point milestone for her career and averaged 17 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two games last week.

Natalie Walke, Northside Christian: Senior averaged 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 3.5 blocks in two games last week.
