Football Rewind: White Knoll, Lexington and Batesburg-Leesville earn shutout wins
White Knoll is ready for region play after a dominant performance Wednesday night.
Sh’Quez Montgomery ran for two touchdowns and QB Landon Sharpe accounted for two as the Timberwolves defeated Fort Dorchester, 38-0.
The game was one of several around the state moved up Wednesday because of the threat of weather associated with Hurricane Helene.
It was Wolves’ final non-region game before they start Region 4-5A play next week against River Bluff. White Knoll won its first region title in school history last year on its way to a trip to the 5A state championship game.
“We kind of snuck up on everyone last year, let’s be honest,” White Knoll coach Nick Pelham said. “I don’t think it sat well with everyone else and two years ago it didn’t sit well with us when we lost some close games. Everyone has been working hard in our region. It is six teams, five games and they are really well-coached and really tough. I’m really excited to watch the next few weeks.”
Region 4-5A might be the toughest region in state’s highest classification this year with three teams Dutch Fork (No. 1), Irmo (No. 5) and White Knoll (No. 9) all ranked in the state’s top 10 in Class 5A. The region went 26-3 against non-conference opponents.
Both teams played the game without their starting running backs. Fort Dorchester was without Ryan Campbell (coach’s decision).
White Knoll (4-1) played the game without Tiyon Fanning, who is expected to miss at least one more week and was at the game with a knee brace and crutches. Montgomery filled in nicely, scoring a TD on the Wolves’ first drive and another in the second quarter to make it 21-0.
Fort Dorchester (3-2) dropped the ensuing kickoff and WK recovered on the 4-yard line. Jordan Keith scored on a 2-yard run to make it 28-0.
Sharpe threw a 40-yard TD pass to Caleb Geronomi to make it 38-0 in the third quarter. Geronomi finished with nine catches for 153 yards.

Brennon Carter had a TD pass to Zareth Owens for Lexington’s other touchdown.

Kellen Dimes had two TD passes for SV. Dimes hit Alton Shell to cut the Bengals’ lead to 14-13. But Hendrix returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown to give Blythewood (5-1, 1-1) a 21-13 with 15 seconds left in the second quarter.
